ABSTRACT
This essay carries out an epistemological analysis based on a case
study, Marlene's Story, in which it seeks to interpret the ways in which
knowledge and its aspects of conventionalism have been imposed on human beings,
without allowing them to discuss their meanings for life and existence. Its
scientific relevance lies in the fact that it explores knowledge from a deeper
perspective, in which the episteme itself explains its potential for empirical
learning. Its social relevance lies in providing the general public with the
opportunity to have knowledge discussed in its most compelling aspects. This is
a bibliographical study, based on the analysis of a case, in which the
characters assume metaphorical conditions of existence, allowing them to be
studied in terms of what they think and their respective living conditions,
whether embracing or denying them, in their essence. Marlene is the authentic
representation of the human being. Divided between Physis and Nomós ,
between being and ought to be, being in itself and being for itself. Eternally
condemned to not knowing who she really is; an undefined being who tries, in her
own way of being and existing, to define herself. What we can conclude is that
knowledge and ignorance have been in conflict since the most remote times and
in all cultures there are countless stories told, in the form of mythologies,
about how these two instances fight and, to the astonishment of the most
unsuspecting, everything ends in misfortune for those who dare to know, who
defy fate and seek to escape the darkness of ignorance.
